About this blog:
This Weblog is maintained by Ben Muse, a resident of Alaska. It is not affiliated with any organizations with positions on the Korea-U.S. FTA.
I'm an economist who has worked for many years with natural resource management agencies in Alaska.
I began posting on the Korea-U.S. negotiations in the Spring of 2006 at my other weblog, which often covers trade topics: Ben Muse. My intent was to focus on, and follow, a single bilateral negotiation from inception through the ratification debates, and potentially into the early period of implementation. I eventually realized I could do this better in a separate weblog.
Just a note that may help in your evaluation of the materials here -
- I believe that the freer trade is generally better than constrained trade, and that multilateral approaches are better than bilateral approaches. While I hope to present a wide variety of perspectives, my views may shape the selection and presentation of material.
- I do not speak or read Korean, so this weblog is dependent on English language materials.
- I have no significant background on Korean culture and politics; this limits my ability to say much about the context of Korean materials that become available in English translation.
Thanks for your visit. Use the comments if you know of useful resources I haven't found, or if you can add interesting economic, legal, political, environmental, public health, or other analysis!
