She is reporting on it in the Slate "Diary" feature, here: "Laurie Snyder, Slate's copy chief, is spending the week on a fishing boat in Southeast Alaska." Monday she arrives in Juneau and comes face to face with a black bear (too - see the end of my previous posting).
