Custer's Last Stand story
What happened to the 7th Cavalry trooper who carried Custer's request for reinforcements as the Little Big Horn battle began on June 25, 1876? He served in the Spanish American War, worked on the New York City subway, and died in 1922 after being hit by a beer truck. The New York Times has the story, here: "Custer's Bugler, Playing the Subway?"
