The WTO's Hong Kong meeting of trade ministers begins tomorrow. The ministers will be trying to make progress on the Doha Round of trade negotiations.
Here are some helpful sources of information:
The official WTO Hong Kong web site is here: The Sixth WTO Ministerial Conference . Pascal Lamy’s Ministerial Conference Diary promises to be interesting.
But, the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) would be my first stop. ICTSD's weekly newsletter "Bridges" will be publishing a daily edition with a summary of press commentary. This "Bridges Hong Kong Daily Update" is available by subscription, or online at http://www.ictsd.org/ministerial/hongkong/wto_daily/index.htm .
Keith Good's "Farm Policy" email newsletter remains free for the first few days of the meetings (becomes a fee for subscription newsletter on Friday). Good provides lightly annotated extracts and abstracts of a wide range of agriculture related news stories. He's been spending a lot of time on Doha related stories. Check here: The FarmPolicy News Summary
The Third World Network has a less developed country perspective on the news.
Among blogs, I'd keep an eye on Peter Gallagher, kickAss (which focuses on agricultural subsidies), Daniel Drezner (who is apparently in Hong Kong and providing coverage). Simon World provides business and economic coverage from Hong Kong, and will almost certainly post on the ministerial.
John Palmer wrote to tell me that the on-line Global Economy Journal has a special issue on the Doha Round. The articles require a subscription, but abstracts are available. Foreign Affairs also has a special Doha issue online - these essays appear to be all available online.
