Todd Tucker at Public Citizen (with help from a number of others) has written a review of the role of trade in this year's congressional and presidential elections. Available at: Trade in the 2008 Elections.
I would have used a very different vocabulary, and the things that delight him can make me shudder, but we probably are in rough agreement on one important fact: Tuesday was a good night for people who want to place more conditions on trade, and a bad night for people who don't (Less support for trade in the Senate next year).
This is a fascinating survey, with anecdotes, analysis of tactics, strategy, rhetoric, promises, advice on framing, and more. The web page includes a large collection of trade ad videos from competitive and open-seat races. Tucker has a strong point of view, if you don't agree with it, read around it.
